Ugh….another dreary spring day! As I sit on my back porch watching the rain drench my vegetable garden and the Preen floating down the hill in my backyard, my mind wanders off to the sunnier days of summer. How I long to be basking in the sun, soaking up rays and drinking refreshing lemonade. Without a single care and a gentle breeze at my back I think of the sweet smells of summer; suntan oil, hot dogs, cotton candy and my favorite…Florida Pie! How many days until summer? I ask myself closing my eyes with visions of entertaining friends on breathtaking summer nights!…. |
“Yes, honey! I have hot dogs and hamburgers, potato salad, pasta salad, and corn on the cob.” “I’ll serve the kids S’Mores for dessert.” But what should I serve our friends for dessert, I ask myself? Then it occurs to me, Florida Pie! Nothing goes better with summer than a good, old fashioned Florida Pie! As my taste buds begin to water at the thought of digging into the pie I pull out Dorie Greenspan’s Baking From My Home to Yours and frantically look for the recipe. “Ah-ha!” I found it and to my delight realize it is much more simple than I remembered.
